In each of us, a particular way of being and knowing converges. By intentionally exchanging the narratives of our lives with each other, we reveal shared emotions, experiences and struggles. We learn something of ourselves. In them resides opportunity to cultivate understanding, appreciation, empathy and connection. Mi-selves is a series of initiatives that work to address the habits of thought and politics in which we cast one another as alien, and seeks to bridge that gap.

Tete-a-Tete | A Story to Tell and A Place for the Telling

A one-to-one interview (Inside Actor Studio Style setting) – A series that explore through narratives Identity politics divides and there is always the need for the OTHER. Storytelling matters and connects people through shared emotions and stories. This transcends beyond boundary of self and brings one to understand others better. As most people have a tendency to surround themselves with people like us then we only hear our own reflections and before we know it we stuck in the mental ghettos.

The focus is on youth. Young people are the well-spring of new ideas and future communities, and far too often the vitality and importance of their input is undervalued. We recognize the social power of the synergies that arise when young people are encouraged to think critically and empathetically to find solutions for today’s pressing issues. Through our programs we aim to foster and harness those energies.

Pint and Policy: A Series

This is a forum designed to bring together faculty, graduate students, government and community groups for a meaningful dialogue on timely issues and concerns. The aim is to inspire policy that is cross-disciplinary, academically rigorous, pragmatic, creative, and grounded in community experiences and context.

A shared point of departure - the freedom to imagine the possible - and envision the future not as a utopian place that we might reach but as an ongoing process of becoming. We invite change makers to visualize the world that they want to see or the world they want to avoid. We propose a critical attitude towards the present and a political commitment to experiment in transfiguring the coordinates of our historical moment. We ask what needs inventing, avoiding, improving, re-conceptualizing and transforming.
